"We are not supposed to get emotionally attached to a piece of equipment. “Cameras are tools” we are told. Personally, I think that’s nonsense. To a craftsman, a tool is a very personal thing. Each one is selected for very precise reasons. If you are just making money with cameras, yes, they are just tools. If you are a craftsman, there is a joy in what you are doing and making money is secondary. The reward for what you do isn’t money, it’s the personal satisfaction of doing something that brings you personal joy."

i need to fix it!

it’s been years since i got her in my hands.. and from a year ago, she’s broken. OILY DIAPHRAGM! no one’s seems to be able to fix it. everybody just gave up. and i remember i did a cleaning for the lens a couple of years ago and, well… maybe they didn’t have the right tools, so there’s something missing or a bit broken. and that made her impossible to be opened to fix it. —> according to my repairman.

with the file facts that i got, she started to be produced in 1974. with only 1,200 units been made and it’s been tagged with “very rare” availability in many Olympus OM websites…. (oh yes.. i always smile when i read that tag!) meanwhile the only thing i can do is…. sigh..

photos via this website  (mine is in my home town and currently not with me)

still finding a place to fix her, maybe Japan? or the States? well i actually find one from the web with a great reputation, ‘Dedicated to Preserving the OM System’ so they say.

a basic check and repair costs like 119 USD, but it will cost more for oily diaphragm blades they say and plus the return shipping cost. oh, and not to mention how stress i will be if i send her overseas.. what if she’ll never get back, what if it gets stolen.. bla bla bla.. i just really want her to be healthy again..

i don’t know…

a movie camera between all of those still cameras in the corner.
i feel bad for her, for not having any friends from the same ballpark. oh well.. Anyway, I found her in my late grandfather’s house. I was looking for some old books, furniture books i guess, then I found her. Fujica Super 8.
I asked my grandma to take her home with me and she said ‘okay’.
she’s working just fine, the viewfinder is quite clean too. so if you wanna try to use it, just let me know.

not so mini mini portrait.
i met this kind man in my home town. we met several times and did a nice quality chat overtime. In the end he gave me a few of his cameras, in this is one of them. I mentioned him on my early post.
she’s in a great shape when i got her. just insert the batteries, turn the on/off switch and she’s ready to go. Well the battery latch broke a few weeks after i use her. that’s why there’s a lot of masking tape goin’ on down there.
one of the sample pic with her can be seen here
i remembered that i had quite a few pictures with her, but i can’t find it anywhere.. hmm… not good at all.

Lynx.
she’s quite a nice looking camera I’d say. and she has quite a fast lens too apparently. My problem with her is that.. her size.. she’s big! i merely used her, i remembered i try to take her for an afternoon stroll, then after a few frames the shutter got jammed and everything started to fall apart afterwards. And it never crossed my mind to get her fixed.
So.. yeah she’s just sitting there in the corner, in my room. the Yashica Lynx 14

yeah!

1000 and going on! thank you!

this is not my camera. and it never was. but i just thought i post it anyway. she originally belongs to my friend, Duto. he’s an artist. he gave this polaroid to me in my last year of college i think, because he wanted it to be fixed. the flash was broken. it took me quite a long time to fix it. and in the end the flash is still not working because i couldn,t find the parts. i’ll look it up online sometime in the near future. and up ‘till now, she stayed safely in my showcase. (just let me know if you want your camera back :D) i’ll be gladly to return it to you.

i got this for my birthday from my dearies, here are the glimpse to their lives on the net E I A F E they gave me the green one. unconsciously, i like green. i got my vespa painted in green too. she (lomolitos) is trully a joy camera, it’s actually disposable but you can tricked it out so that you can use it again and it’s very simple to do so.

"i just got stuck with my Rollei 35s an my Canonet G III. i just felt very comfortable with those two. they are really reliable on every occasions. maybe because they’re in it’s best condition and also they’re very compact for a daily partner, and yeah, they made great images."

I got an SLR cameras that’s been given to me. 2 of them are from my girlfriends late father. he was a lecturer for photography and communications, he was a great person even though i just met him once just a few weeks before he passed away. a canon AE-1 and a Fujica SX. they were broken, but it’s fixable. i just haven’t fixed them yet. maybe later.

the brightest camera on my display set is the ansco pix. all i know is that this pocket camera was there in my house since i was 2 or 3 years old. my dad bought it for my sister i guess. it was a very ‘pop-ish’ camera i’d say. with the pink color on the front and the light grey on the back. a shocking yellow for the flash switch in the front of the cameras body. a light purple color for the lens cover and the shutter button, and yes, it’s very girly.
